One of the most unique Disney heroines is Mulan, the young Chinese woman masquerading as a man to join the army in her elderly father´s place. Accompanied by the fun dragon Mushu and lucky cricket Cri-Kee, they have countless adventures and manage to defeat the army of Huns threatening their homeland. Finished in gloss porcelain with the colours representative of the characters, Mulan appears standing, with a pretty flower in her hair. Issued on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the film, celebrated by Disney in 2018, the piece has a commemorative decal on its base.

The hundreds of scales covering its skin are individually hand painted in different shades of blue, which gives it a special shine and which is an extremely laborious technique requiring the expertise of the finest artists. For thousands of years, these majestic creatures have represented the best omens in Eastern culture. Artists at the Lladró High Porcelain workshop have recreated this ancient tradition in these limited edition pieces, richly decorated with lustres and various textures and finishes. These lions, inspired by traditional statues of bronze, iron or granite which flank the doors of palaces, temples and noble houses in various Eastern countries, are presented in pairs and protect the buildings from evil spirits. Seen from the front, the male is located on the right and takes care of the structure, represented by the ball he holds with his leg, while the female is located on the left and cares for the inhabitants. This lioness is paired with the guardian lion (red) and there are two other decorative versions. Warm colours are predominant in its ornamentation, with alternating yellow-orange, reds and earth tones. Artists of the High Porcelain workshop recreate and embellish every detail of the piece, such as the elaborate ornamentation of the skirts and chest plates, the introduction of the necklace as a decorative element and the lavish modelling of the manes and tails. Authentic filigree work makes these impressive sculptures a work halfway between the thousand-year-old tradition and the maker´s creation.

Lladro Limited Edition Lord Shrinathji Sculpture
Shrinathji is a manifestation of Krishna, one of India’s most venerated deities, incarnated in a seven-year-old boy. Shrinathji is a grace-filled divinity, the balanced abode of contradictions. He is a child, yet he supports the world. He is both pond and lotus, he is all things at once. Exquisitely faithful to traditional iconography, this majestic depiction in porcelain stands out for its sumptuous decoration and also for the dazzling ornamental wealth of a god who represents pure bliss. A wide range of finishes were using in making this impressive sculpture, including the combination of matte and glazed porcelain with enamels, and different coatings of golden luster and metallic tones. The intense saffron color of the clothing symbolizes happiness and success. In addition, it is richly decorated with a jewelry hand-painted in bright greens and blues, and with a splendid garland of white flowers, modeled petal by petal by Lladró artists.

This powerful character dressed in a spectacular costume is a limited edition of 250 units in High Porcelain, the category for the most exclusive pieces created at the Lladró workshops. The decoration of the piece also boasts a rich spectrum of colors, with a special mention for the metallic tones of the skirt, which called for a highly specific and complex application. Equally of note are the various finishes used to underscore the details and the striking recreation of the make-up covering the actor’s face. Kabuki is a creation conveying all the expressiveness and visual wealth that has made this traditional Japanese art form so famous.
Lladro Minnie in black and white Sculpture
This creation offers a contemporary vision of Minnie, Mickey Mouse’s sweetheart. The point of departure for the creative approach is animated cartoon techniques based on black ink drawing on a white ground. So, black is the only color used in the decoration of Minnie, together with a few touches of golden luster applied in the ribbon in her hair, her shoes and the tip of her nose. The end result is an unmistakable and charming Minnie who has swapped her usual red dress for a white dress with black polka dots rendered with utmost care and precision. The base is faceted black porcelain.
