Grumpy is a porcelain sculpture that reproduces one of Snow White’s companions. It’s a fictional character based on the Grimm brothers’ tale, where a princess meets a group of seven dwarfs when she runs away from her evil stepmother, who has ordered her to be killed to be more beautiful in the kingdom. Finished in glossy porcelain and decorated with the character’s characteristic colors. The piece has three flowers at its base, two roses and one white, and a commemorative Disney 80th anniversary decal. Lladro Radha Krishna on a Swing Sculpture. Limited Edition
The love between Radha and Krishna has given rise to some wonderful fables and their story is an important part of major Hindu celebrations like Jhulan Yatra, the festival of swings. After the summer heat, when the clouds float high in the sky, the Brajwasi celebrate the arrival of the first rains. With the onset of monsoon season, ponds and lakes fill with rainwater, lotus flowers blossom, the air is scented with a pleasant fragrance and the forests of Vrindavan are decorated with wonderful jhula, like the one on which Radha and Krishna swing in this High Porcelain creation. Following tradition, the swing is finely decorated with many flowers which, like the garland worn by Krishna, have all been handmade one by one, with over 200 petals. The costumes worn by Radha and Krishna signify their spiritual importance and Lladró artists have recreated them in minute detail. From the jewelry, etched by hand and decorated with golden and copper luster, to the embroidery of the fabrics or the decoration applied by hand combining deep rich colors like orange and blue. Radha Krishna on a Swing is a creation that seems to float in the air, suspended over a wood base. This High Porcelain limited edition brings a revered goddess to life, recreating a novel colour scheme of healing light, which releases ¨she who hears the lament of the world¨. According to a common Chinese belief, Kwan Yin lives on the island of Pu-tuo-shan, where her temple is surrounded by a lake of violet light which cures the ailments of all who bathe in its waters. It is said she will not rest until all human beings are freed from their suffering. The image of the goddess is decorated with innovative colours such as hues of purple and mauve and the metallic gold and aged silver of the forest flowers, never before used in a Lladró piece. For the remainder of the piece, hues in a harmonious green and yellow colour scheme have been employed.
