The beauty of women is enhanced by the imposing force of the feline. With this spectacular creation, the artists of the Lladró High Porcelain workshop contribute their own vision of a classic theme which has inspired great masterpieces. With a theme based on the Bacchae of Ancient Greece, later recreated by Renaissance and Baroque painters such as Titian, Michelangelo and Rubens, the temperament and sumptuous decoration of this sculpture reminds us of the painting, Bacchante with a panther (1855) by the French painter William Adolphe Bouguereau. The sensuality of this limited edition is accentuated by the semi-nudity of the woman and her very white skin. There is a contrast between this clarity and the decorative richness in the dark tones of her skirt and, above all, with the Panther upon which she is seated. The wealth of finishes, hues, backgrounds and textures is achieved through the combination of matte porcelain and complex enamelling techniques, all applied by hand.

Shrinathji is a manifestation of Krishna, one of India’s most venerated deities, incarnated in a seven-year-old boy. Shrinathji is a grace-filled divinity, the balanced abode of contradictions. He is a child, yet he supports the world. He is both pond and lotus, he is all things at once. A symbol of power and prosperity in Eastern culture, this magical creature, the bearer of good luck, is the protagonist in this spectacular High Porcelain limited edition. The hundreds of scales covering its skin are individually hand painted with gold lustre, an extremely laborious technique requiring the expertise of the finest artists. The luminosity distinguishing its spectacular embellishment is attained by combining gloss and satin finishes, united by an iridescent metallic hue on the chest and a vivid turquoise hue on the crest. The complexity of the dragon´s shape and the tremendous number of tiny details make the process of its creation extremely difficult, from the modelling of the original sculpture through to its final firing in the kiln.
