Lladro Bacchante on A Panther Woman Sculpture. Limited Edition

The beauty of women is enhanced by the imposing force of the feline. With this spectacular creation, the artists of the Lladró High Porcelain workshop contribute their own vision of a classic theme which has inspired great masterpieces. With a theme based on the Bacchae of Ancient Greece, later recreated by Renaissance and Baroque painters such as Titian, Michelangelo and Rubens, the temperament and sumptuous decoration of this sculpture reminds us of the painting, Bacchante with a panther (1855) by the French painter William Adolphe Bouguereau. The sensuality of this limited edition is accentuated by the semi-nudity of the woman and her very white skin. There is a contrast between this clarity and the decorative richness in the dark tones of her skirt and, above all, with the Panther upon which she is seated. The wealth of finishes, hues, backgrounds and textures is achieved through the combination of matte porcelain and complex enamelling techniques, all applied by hand.

Lladro High Porcelain, Kwan Yin Sculpture. Limited Edition
This High Porcelain limited edition brings a revered goddess to life, recreating a novel colour scheme of healing light, which releases ¨she who hears the lament of the world¨. According to a common Chinese belief, Kwan Yin lives on the island of Pu-tuo-shan, where her temple is surrounded by a lake of violet light which cures the ailments of all who bathe in its waters. It is said she will not rest until all human beings are freed from their suffering. The image of the goddess is decorated with innovative colours such as hues of purple and mauve and the metallic gold and aged silver of the forest flowers, never before used in a Lladró piece. For the remainder of the piece, hues in a harmonious green and yellow colour scheme have been employed.

Lladró artists portray a coiled dragon, whose fierce stare conveys all the power and strength of this mythological creature. On a technical level, the production process for this sculpture is highly complex, with all the whiskers, claws, crests, scales and other fragments painted with enamels and metallic lustres in every area. With this blue edition of the Great Dragon, the most contemporary and Westernised vision of the dragon has been depicted, increasing its decorative potential. Hina Dolls - Empress is an exquisite piece of High Porcelain with delicate and meticulous embellishment, inspired by an ancient Japanese tradition. It is a piece destined to become a veritable family heirloom. This empress represents one of the leading figures of Hina Ningyo, a composition of figures placed upon a stage, where girls are given away in Japan every 3 March at the feast of Hina Matsuri to assure them a happy life. This limited edition, which pays careful attention to the smallest details of the garments worn by emperors of the Japanese court during the Heian period, forms a pair with Hina Dolls - Emperor. On a decorative level, the reproduction of the richness of embroidered fabrics is highlighted, as is the image of traditional Japanese fabric simulating Damascus silk, which transforms the piece into a little jewel. In terms of its the richness of the colour palette, this creation surpasses the classic Lladró palette and introduces more intense colours. The dark colour of the dress and the decorative details in three tones are emphasised, applied by hand through a painstaking process which enables them to stand out against such an intense background.

The hundreds of scales covering its skin are individually hand painted in different shades of blue, which gives it a special shine and which is an extremely laborious technique requiring the expertise of the finest artists. The luminosity distinguishing its spectacular embellishment is attained by combining gloss and satin finishes. The complexity of the dragon´s shape and the great number of small details make the process of its creation extremely difficult, from the modelling of the original sculpture through to its final firing in the kiln.

Lladro Radha Krishna on a Swing Sculpture. Limited Edition
The love between Radha and Krishna has given rise to some wonderful fables and their story is an important part of major Hindu celebrations like Jhulan Yatra, the festival of swings. After the summer heat, when the clouds float high in the sky, the Brajwasi celebrate the arrival of the first rains. With the onset of monsoon season, ponds and lakes fill with rainwater, lotus flowers blossom, the air is scented with a pleasant fragrance and the forests of Vrindavan are decorated with wonderful jhula, like the one on which Radha and Krishna swing in this High Porcelain creation. Following tradition, the swing is finely decorated with many flowers which, like the garland worn by Krishna, have all been handmade one by one, with over 200 petals. The costumes worn by Radha and Krishna signify their spiritual importance and Lladró artists have recreated them in minute detail. From the jewelry, etched by hand and decorated with golden and copper luster, to the embroidery of the fabrics or the decoration applied by hand combining deep rich colors like orange and blue. Radha Krishna on a Swing is a creation that seems to float in the air, suspended over a wood base. In this way, the divine couple rock back and forth forever on their legendary swing, conveying to the world their divine love.
