Sleepy is a porcelain sculpture that reproduces one of Snow White’s companions. It’s a fictional character based on the Grimm brothers’ tale, where a princess meets a group of seven dwarfs when she runs away from her evil stepmother, who has ordered her to be killed to be more beautiful in the kingdom. Finished in glossy porcelain and decorated with the character’s characteristic colors. The piece has two flowers at its base, a rose and a white flower, and a commemorative Disney 80th anniversary decal. The hundreds of scales covering its skin are individually hand painted in different shades of blue, which gives it a special shine and which is an extremely laborious technique requiring the expertise of the finest artists. The luminosity distinguishing its spectacular embellishment is attained by combining gloss and satin finishes. The complexity of the dragon´s shape and the great number of small details make the process of its creation extremely difficult, from the modelling of the original sculpture through to its final firing in the kiln.
Lladro Guardian Lion Sculpture. Blue. Limited Edition
For thousands of years, these majestic creatures have represented the best omens in Eastern culture. Artists at the Lladró High Porcelain workshop have recreated this ancient tradition in these limited edition pieces, richly decorated with lustres and various textures and finishes. These lions, inspired by traditional statues of bronze, iron or granite which flank the doors of palaces, temples and noble houses in various Eastern countries, are presented in pairs and protect the buildings from evil spirits. Seen from the front, the male is located on the right and takes care of the structure, represented by the ball he holds with his leg, while the female is located on the left and cares for the inhabitants. This lion is paired with the guardian lioness (blue) and there are two other decorative versions. Blue tones are predominant, in addition to border in gold lustre with alternating gloss and matte finishes. Artists of the High Porcelain workshop recreate and embellish every detail of the piece, such as the elaborate ornamentation of the skirts and chest plates, the introduction of the necklace as a decorative element and the lavish modelling of the manes and tails. Authentic filigree work makes these impressive sculptures a work halfway between the thousand-year-old tradition and the maker´s creation
Lladro Radha Krishna on a Swing Sculpture. Limited Edition
The love between Radha and Krishna has given rise to some wonderful fables and their story is an important part of major Hindu celebrations like Jhulan Yatra, the festival of swings. After the summer heat, when the clouds float high in the sky, the Brajwasi celebrate the arrival of the first rains. With the onset of monsoon season, ponds and lakes fill with rainwater, lotus flowers blossom, the air is scented with a pleasant fragrance and the forests of Vrindavan are decorated with wonderful jhula, like the one on which Radha and Krishna swing in this High Porcelain creation. Following tradition, the swing is finely decorated with many flowers which, like the garland worn by Krishna, have all been handmade one by one, with over 200 petals. The costumes worn by Radha and Krishna signify their spiritual importance and Lladró artists have recreated them in minute detail. From the jewelry, etched by hand and decorated with golden and copper luster, to the embroidery of the fabrics or the decoration applied by hand combining deep rich colors like orange and blue. Radha Krishna on a Swing is a creation that seems to float in the air, suspended over a wood base. In this way, the divine couple rock back and forth forever on their legendary swing, conveying to the world their divine love.
Lladro Saraswati Sculpture – Limited Edition
Spirituality and aesthetics go hand in hand in this representation of one of the most revered Indian goddesses. Saraswati, the deity of learning, knowledge and wisdom, is displayed with her symbols and attributes in this High Porcelain limited edition, which stands out for its rich embellishment. From the sumptuous crown to the rich dresses and headdress, jewels, peacock feathers and flowers decorating the wreath and peacock´s crest, everything is crafted and defined in great detail in order to emphasise the majestic figure of Saraswati.

This powerful character dressed in a spectacular costume is a limited edition of 250 units in High Porcelain, the category for the most exclusive pieces created at the Lladró workshops. The decoration of the piece also boasts a rich spectrum of colors, with a special mention for the metallic tones of the skirt, which called for a highly specific and complex application. Equally of note are the various finishes used to underscore the details and the striking recreation of the make-up covering the actor’s face. A piece that boasts many complex decorative techniques, like golden luster, and a large amount of handmade flowers made petal by petal. Shivas attributes are finely defined with a host of details enhancing his majestic character: the trident, the drum, the snake, the bands of Rudraksha and the bun in his hair. The base provides room for the optional piece Lingam (01001981), a symbol used to worship Shiva and to overcome any situation that impedes personal growth.
