This powerful character dressed in a spectacular costume is a limited edition of 250 units in High Porcelain, the category for the most exclusive pieces created at the Lladró workshops. The decoration of the piece also boasts a rich spectrum of colors, with a special mention for the metallic tones of the skirt, which called for a highly specific and complex application. Lladro Lamassu Sculpture. Limited Edition
The striking presence of mythological beings flanking the Ishtar Gate at the walls of Babylon inspired the artists of the Lladró High Porcelain workshop in this powerful sculpture, richly decorated with golds, lustres and a vast wealth of colours and textures. Lamassu is the name of the winged bulls with human heads guarding the entrance to the royal palaces of the ancient Neo-Assyrian empire. With their imposing presence on both sides of the door, they symbolised the supernatural powers of kings, drove away evil and attracted good fortune. Each of the elements of this mythological creature is reproduced with great artistry in this limited edition: the wild bull of Mesopotamia hunted by kings, the eagle representing the monarch contemplating his subjects, and the human brow crowned as an allusion to his intelligence and divinity. In the embellishment of the piece, blue tones are highlighted, with turquoise reminiscent of lapis lazuli and gold as a symbol of wealth, all applied with great precision by hand. New lustres are combined in cobalt blue and brown, in addition to a combination of matte, gloss and satin finishes.
Lladro Lord Balaji Sculpture . Limited Edition
Balaji is a limited edition of 299 units. Under the name of High Porcelain, Lladró brings together a collection of exclusive creations that constitute the true essence of his art. Made by the sculptor Virginia González, this piece is a sample of the technical skill and mastery achieved by the artists of the brand. This representation of Balaji or Lord Venkateshwara, one of the most revered deities from India, stands out for its majestic and exuberant decoration, luxuriously covered by a myriad of porcelain flowers. Its ornamental richness is at the level of the powerful Balaji, which fulfills the wishes of its faithful if they are asked with a true heart and a strong determination. A combination of matt and glossy porcelain with enamels and different finishes of luster, gold, platinum and metallic tones has been used to finish this majestic creation. But what really stands out is the dazzling floral decoration, made up of a total of 1,866 flowers that form the side columns and the different garlands that the god wears. An impressive work carried out petal by petal by the masters of Lladró.
Lladro Mickey in black and white Sculpture
This creation is based on a contemporary vision of Mickey Mouse. The creative approach is based on animation techniques and brushwork in black and white ink. Here Mickey is decorated with drawings hand-painted on the porcelain that represent some of the most outstanding themes in Lladró’s imagery, such as love, nature and magic. The drawings also feature in the decoration of his t-shirt, his famous gloves, socks and shoes, all executed with great precision and at once in a light-hearted charming fashion. The black and white decoration is set off by a few well-chosen touches of golden luster in his nose or the keys hanging from his waist, the keys which Mickey uses to open hearts. The hundreds of scales covering its skin are individually hand painted with gold lustre, an extremely laborious technique requiring the expertise of the finest artists. The luminosity distinguishing its spectacular embellishment is attained by combining gloss and satin finishes, united by an iridescent metallic hue on the chest and a vivid turquoise hue on the crest. The complexity of the dragon´s shape and the tremendous number of tiny details make the process of its creation extremely difficult, from the modelling of the original sculpture through to its final firing in the kiln.
Lladro Minnie in black and white Sculpture
This creation offers a contemporary vision of Minnie, Mickey Mouse’s sweetheart. The point of departure for the creative approach is animated cartoon techniques based on black ink drawing on a white ground. So, black is the only color used in the decoration of Minnie, together with a few touches of golden luster applied in the ribbon in her hair, her shoes and the tip of her nose. The end result is an unmistakable and charming Minnie who has swapped her usual red dress for a white dress with black polka dots rendered with utmost care and precision. The base is faceted black porcelain.
