Hina Dolls - Empress is an exquisite piece of High Porcelain with delicate and meticulous embellishment, inspired by an ancient Japanese tradition. This creation offers a contemporary vision of Minnie, Mickey Mouse’s sweetheart. The point of departure for the creative approach is animated cartoon techniques based on black ink drawing on a white ground. So, black is the only color used in the decoration of Minnie, together with a few touches of golden luster applied in the ribbon in her hair, her shoes and the tip of her nose. The hundreds of scales covering its skin are individually hand painted in different shades of blue, which gives it a special shine and which is an extremely laborious technique requiring the expertise of the finest artists. The luminosity distinguishing its spectacular embellishment is attained by combining gloss and satin finishes. The complexity of the dragon´s shape and the great number of small details make the process of its creation extremely difficult, from the modelling of the original sculpture through to its final firing in the kiln.
